Autism Assessment Specialists
Telehealth Assessment Services
We offer autism assessments via secure Telehealth to ensure families and individuals can access high-quality, neuro-affirming diagnostic services. Whether you're in a rural area, managing travel limitations, or simply prefer the comfort of home, our Telehealth assessments provide a flexible, effective, and personalised alternative to in-person services.

A Telehealth autism assessment is a comprehensive diagnostic process conducted through secure video conferencing. It involves the same gold-standard assessment tools, clinical interviews, and observational methods used in in-person assessments, adapted to suit the online format without compromising quality or accuracy. Our approach remains deeply strengths-based, individualised, and neuro-affirming, acknowledging each person’s unique brain style, communication preferences, and lived experience.

Telehealth autism assessments are suitable for:
-
Children, adolescents, and adults of all ages
-
Individuals with access needs, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities
-
Families in remote, rural, or regional communities
-
Participants needing an NDIS-funded diagnostic review
-
Adults seeking clarity around late-diagnosed or self-identified autism

What the Process Involves
1. Initial Intake and Consultation
We begin with a detailed online consultation with the individual (and/or parents or caregivers, if assessing a child). This includes developmental history, current concerns, daily functioning, and goals for assessment.

2. Standardised Questionnaires
You will be sent secure, online forms to complete before and during the assessment. These may include:
-
Autism-specific rating scales
-
Behavioural, sensory, or emotional functioning questionnaires
-
Forms for teachers, partners, or support workers (if applicable)

3. Structured Observations and Interviews
We conduct clinical interviews and observational tasks adapted for video format. Depending on age and communication style, we may use tools such as:
-
Conversational, sensory-based diagnostic interviews
-
Structured play or interaction tasks (for children)
-
Parent-child observations
-
Functional and social communication tasks (for adults and teens)

4. Cognitive and Functional Assessments
When needed, we may conduct additional standardised cognitive or adaptive functioning assessments remotely using digital tools

5. Collaborative Feedback Session
After all data is reviewed, we schedule a feedback session to go through the results, diagnostic formulation, and personalised recommendations. This is an opportunity to ask questions and clarify next steps.

What You Receive

A comprehensive diagnostic report outlining strengths, areas of need, diagnostic outcomes (if applicable), and clear, actionable recommendations
-
Reports tailored for NDIS, school supports (ILPs/IEPs), and allied health planning
-
Resources to help with next steps, e.g., referrals, therapy options, or support networks

Is It Just as Effective as In-Person?
With proper planning and professional experience, Telehealth autism assessments are clinically valid and widely accepted for both diagnostic and funding purposes, including for:
-
NDIS access and functional capacity assessments
-
School-based learning plans and support applications
-
Mental health or therapeutic referrals

Our clinical psychologists are trained to adapt assessments to different communication styles and technological access levels, ensuring equity and inclusion in the diagnostic process.

What You Will Need
-
A quiet, private space with a computer or tablet and reliable internet
-
Access to a parent/caregiver (for younger children) during observation tasks
-
Willingness to engage over video and complete online forms
-
(Optional) toys or preferred items nearby if assessing young children

We believe that distance should never be a barrier to clarity, understanding, or support.
Our Telehealth assessments are thoughtfully designed to be just as empowering, thorough, and respectful as those conducted face-to-face.
