Autism Assessment Specialists
Our Philosophy
Respect for Neurodiversity
At the heart of our approach is the understanding that autism is a neurotype - a different way of experiencing, processing, and interacting with the world. We affirm that neurodivergent individuals, including autistic people, bring unique strengths, insights, and perspectives that enrich families, schools, workplaces, and communities. We embrace a neuro-affirming lens that shifts the focus to strengths and differences. We seek to understand them in the context of each person’s sensory, emotional, cognitive, and social world.
Our goal is to recognise individuality and provide supportive, respectful pathways for growth. We aim to promote self-understanding, self-advocacy, and well-being through thoughtful, collaborative assessment that empowers.
Strength Based Practice
We believe every individual has a unique profile of strengths, interests, and ways of thinking that deserve recognition. Our assessments are designed to identify and elevate their capabilities, passions, and natural talents. A strength-based approach helps shift the narrative to one of potential. Whether it’s a child who excels in visual thinking, a teenager with creative problem-solving skills, or an adult with a deep sense of empathy and focus, we aim to understand the full picture.

Our strength-based insights form the foundation of every report and recommendation. They guide how we interpret assessment results, how we communicate with families and educators, and how we collaborate to create practical, personalised strategies that truly make a difference. This approach respects the individual, builds confidence, and opens up possibilities, empowering autistic people across the lifespan to live authentically and meaningfully.
Individualised Understanding
Every person is unique and so is their experience of the world. We take time to understand each individual's profile, including their interests, communication style, learning preferences, cultural background, and sensory sensitivities. Our process is flexible, respectful, and centred around the person. From the initial consultation to the final recommendations, we adapt our tools, questions, and interactions to suit each person’s way of engaging.
Our goal is to make the process as accessible and empowering as possible.
By approaching assessments through a personalised lens, we gain a deeper, more accurate understanding of an individual’s needs and strengths. This ensures that our outcomes are clinically informed and also practically meaningful, providing guidance that fits the person’s real-world context and supports them to live in alignment with who they are.
Affirming Strength Based Language
Language has the power to foster understanding, inclusion, and self-worth. At our practice, we are intentional and thoughtful in the words we choose because we believe that everyone deserves to be described in ways that reflect their strengths and identity. We use respectful, identity-affirming language that honours the preferences and lived experiences of autistic individuals and their families. This includes using identity-first language (“autistic person”) where preferred, acknowledging neurodivergence as a valid part of human diversity.

Our communication, both written and spoken, is designed to uphold dignity, psychological safety, and clarity. We aim to make our language accessible, inclusive, and empowering. This ensures that individuals and families walk away from our assessments not only with insight but with a deeper sense of confidence in who they are.
Collaborative Partnership
At the heart of our approach is collaboration. We believe that the most meaningful and accurate assessments come from working in a partnership. From the very beginning, we listen to each person’s story, perspective, and goals. This creates a foundation of trust and shared understanding that guides the entire assessment process.

We recognise that individuals, families, carers, educators, and professionals all have valuable knowledge and contributions. Whether it is insight into daily routines, emotional wellbeing, communication preferences, or learning styles, collaboration is essential in building a comprehensive and respectful picture of a person’s strengths and support needs.

Our assessments are designed to be transparent and inclusive. We take the time to explain the process and outcomes in a way that is clear, respectful and affirming. Feedback is offered in a collaborative spirit, working together to interpret findings and identify practical, empowering strategies that align with the individual’s goals and values.

We aim to establish ongoing partnerships, providing support to families, schools, and allied health teams as they implement recommendations and adapt support strategies over time.
Our commitment to collaborative partnership ensures that the assessment experience is one of empowerment and shared purpose.
